Dear GS Custom
Here are photographs of our biltong hunt last week. My son Charles and I spent the week with Len De Jager on the farm Charity at Nina in Namibia. We both used my 308 Steyr Mannlicher with full stock, double set trigger and 20 inch barrel fitted with a noise suppressor.
We load your 130gr HV bullet to 3100fps. I took the Blue Wildebeest at a ranged 320 metres. The shot was on the shoulder and, after a death sprint of about 20 paces, he piled up dead. Penetration was linear and with the customary exit hole and low meat damage. Charles shot four Gemsbuck as well as a Springbuck. He took the very nice Gemsbuck in the picture below with a perfect heart shot at 250 metres.

Hunting at Bivack Game Ranch on the Limpopo river is good!! I went there for Impala to stock up on meat for the freezer and to add to the store of biltong for the off season and here are the results. My guide for the hunt was Johannes and by 11:30 on the Saturday morning I shot my fourteenth Impala of the day. These two rams were taken very close together.
The work is just starting here. The fourteen Impalas included 10 rams that were representative quality. An acquaintance asked why I shot fourteen Impalas. I thought the reason was obvious; I only took fourteen rounds with me on the morning. I used my tried and proven recipe: My 308 Steyr Mannlicher loaded with 130gr GS HV bullets at 3100fps.
This Impala was taken earlier in the season, also at Bivack Game Ranch, with my 6x45 Custom. The shot was taken at 150 paces and I load 75gr GS HV bullets at 2800 fps.
The rifle was built by Frikkie Du Plooy of J&J Wapens at Ermelo. Contact them on +27 17 819 3415. The engraving and gold inlay was done by Helene Van Wyk in Pretoria.
