Piet Swart with a 101cm (39.75") Eland taken in Namibia in 2005. Piet used his 375H&H loaded with 265gr GS HV bullets at 2930fps. The shot was taken at 120 paces and the Eland went down at the shot. The bullet exit is visible on the shoulder. |

2006 This was an
interesting hunt. Gerard helped Piet to build a
custom 22x64 on a Shilen 1:8 twist barrel. The load is a
GSC .224" HV bullet of 60gr at 4000fps. The farmer
wanted this zebra shot because it was the last one left from
a herd he had removed. It was in a very large area
with bad accessibility and areas with dense vegitation, so
they called for horses in case the zebra had to be followed
up. The farmer was rather sceptical of the hot rod
.224 with it's 60gr bullet. |
